I
saw again the movie; “For coloured girls” by Tyler Perry, and understood its lessons from a
whole new perspective. This captivating, lesson-filled movie brings to our
minds the knowledge that we could get hurt and disappointed especially by those
we claim to love. It is a story of women who have gone through a lot to bring
happiness and contentment to their men but have been fed with pain and regret
afterwards. What most people fail to understand is that how our lives should be
lived out is mainly our decision to make. A greater percentage of what happens
in our lives is dependent on our actions or the decisions we have made.
Abuse
is what most women have suffered and are still suffering. There is a place of
forgiveness and a second chance given to that loved one but when our lives
start taking a very ugly turn as a result of this abuse, we need to stand and
defend ourselves. The key to our happiness lies solely in our hands and that
fact should be constantly upheld in all our dealings. We cannot be robbed off
of our happiness if we are conscious of this fact. We could tolerate, bear,
accommodate but how much we do all of these is up to us. At that point where
tolerating would leave a great scar on our future and our happiness, that
surely is the point for great refusal. This is because we would have to take
responsibility of the outcome of our actions.
As
women, there is so much, wrapped up in our voices, we have the mantle of
influence, but most women are oblivious of this truth that they give up so
easily. There is so much we have to offer the world, let us stand boldly and
let our hearts be revived!
