WHEN THE WORD IS X AND THE ACTION Y
As a typical naija babe, proudly "repping" my country, I love nollywood movies.Though when I see a boring scene, I verbally show my discontent and some persons especially my friends have asked me in total wonder why I am still in love with nollywood productions and I tell them "otiko no fine but him mama like am, we are getting there". But really, nollywood has a way of depicting in its entirety what could be amazingly and also annoyingly obtainable in the African setting. I love nollywood! OK..Let's talk about our variables X and Y. I remember seeing a movie sometime ago, a perfectly looking couple, in love, you could tell by looking at them. Then I became shocked, he hit her, she wept, after a while he came around and apologised "I'm sorry, I love you. Love? how?
This occured virtually everyday and then came the great shocker, he told her he needed counselling. Disregarding pleas from her friends to leave the relationship, she said amidst tears and a swollen face "He needs help, I need to help him, he has to go for counselling" and I'm like"hia! does this still happen?" Yes, it does, even worse scenarios abound and the person undergoing such might be closer to you than you think.
Love is practical, it is not selfish, you cannot claim to love someone and still hurt him or her, neither your temperament nor your personality type is an excuse. I will always love the song "more than words" by Westlife. If you are not so familiar or have forgotten the lyrics, please go through it again. What else would you have to show if the words "I love you" were taken away from you? How else would you prove your love to him or her? Love is a combination of different attributes and virtues. 1Cor. 13:4 tells us extensively about love. Are you confused about this love thing? read that part of the Great Book, it is VERY CLEAR. Love NEVER hurts.
